Brand photography for inclusive wellness brands: a studio shoot with Lucy Bishop (@lucybyoga)
Lucy Bishop is an inclusive yoga teacher, movement specialist, and body liberation advocate based in South London. With over 151,000 Instagram followers and a teacher training practice that reaches studios internationally, she is one of the most recognisable voices in inclusive wellness in the UK. She came to Lila & Co. for a full brand photography session covering every aspect of her business; from her Zoom Club and in-person classes to her retreat programme and teacher trainings.
This is how we built it, and what yoga teachers and wellness coaches can take from it.
What Lucy needed from a brand shoot
Lucy's business spans multiple offers and multiple audiences. She needed brand images that could carry her teacher training pages, retreat promotions, website banners, social media content, and press features; all at once, all feeling like the same person.
We shot in a photography studio in London and created distinct visual worlds within the same space. Shifts in lighting, simple set design, and intentional styling let us move between editorial, documentary warmth, and lifestyle across a single half-day session. The result is a cohesive brand photography gallery with enough range to serve her business for months.
This is exactly what the BLOSSOM and ELEVATE packages at Lila & Co. are designed to deliver: a complete bank of brand images for wellness entrepreneurs who need their visual presence to work as hard as they do.
Why inclusive brand photography in the wellness industry matters
The wellness industry has a representation problem that no amount of good intentions fixes on its own. The images that dominate this space still skew thin, white, able-bodied, and beige. Lucy Bishop has been challenging that directly for years; teaching in her own body, making her classes physically and financially accessible, and building a community where students who have been made to feel unwelcome in yoga spaces can actually exhale.
Shooting Lucy was not a neutral portfolio exercise for me. It was an act of alignment with something I believe deeply: that bold, intentional brand photography for wellness practitioners should reflect the actual diversity of the people doing this work, not the sanitised version the industry has decided looks professional.
When your brand imagery reflects who you actually are, your ideal clients recognise themselves in it. That is not a soft benefit. It is the mechanism by which brand photography converts.
How we structured the shoot
We built the session around three distinct visual stories, each serving a different part of Lucy's business.
The first was authority and expertise. Clean, direct, strong. For teacher training pages, media features, podcast appearances, and brand collaborations, Lucy needs to read immediately as the established expert and educator she is. These images do that without softening her or making her look like every other wellness professional on the internet.
The second was warmth and community. More movement, the kind of presence that makes her online students feel like they are already in the room with her. For Zoom Club promotion and in-person class content, this register is the one that converts browsers into bookings.
The third was editorial. Structured, playful, designed to hold its own in a magazine or press context. Lucy is at the career stage where media opportunities are not hypothetical and her images needed to be ready for them.
For yoga teachers and wellness practitioners considering a brand shoot
If you are a yoga teacher, wellness coach, or movement specialist who has been putting off a brand photography session because you are waiting until you feel ready, look different, or find a photographer who will not make you look like everyone else in your niche; this section is for you.
Lucy did not wait for permission to be visible. She built a thriving wellness business, a 151k following, and an international training practice as herself, in her body, on her terms. And her brand photography needed to match that.
You are already photogenic. You are already the right person to be doing this work. You just have not had a brand photographer who understands inclusive wellness, visual strategy, and what it actually takes to make someone feel powerful in front of a lens.
