4 steps to give
your brand a
glow up

A free mini-guide from Camille at Lila & Co to help you take your brand and Instagram from self-employed to impactful.

1

Take artsy pictures of stuff that inspires you

Plants, crystals, sky... whatever you're drawn to. Take photos of them, save them, notice what comes up. You will start to see recurring themes and colours.

They can be scattered around your feed as breathing room between your graphic content. Not feeling artsy? Pinterest works too.

Camille's tip: If you post Canva carousels regularly, go minimalist with your filler shots. I use close-up plant shots to balance out the busier content on my grid. Simple, but it works.
2

Build a colour palette you actually love

Head to coolors.co and play until something clicks. Make sure your colours harmonise with your photos rather than fight them.

Aim for at least two colours that contrast well so your content stays readable. If you have a website, test your palette there before committing.

Accessibility reminder: Contrast is not just a design choice, it is about who can actually read your content. Run your palette through a contrast checker to make sure everyone can access it.
3

Pick 2 or 3 fonts and make 3 to 4 templates

Jump into Canva, choose your fonts, and build a small set of simple templates you can rotate. Keep them on brand and make sure they work with your colour palette.

Set up a clear hierarchy: one font for headings, one for body copy. Stick to it consistently.

Readability first: A decorative font nobody can read on mobile is not a vibe. The more ornate the font, the more it can clash with your colours and become inaccessible. Simple usually wins.
4

Journal on "what matters most to me?"

And go deep. Let your mind travel far with this one. Follow each thought to the very end of the thread. Do not cut yourself off.

It does not have to be anything directly related to your business or services. But it will tell you everything about how you want to show up.

Why this matters: The most cohesive brands are built from the inside out. Your values, your worldview, your specific opinions are the things that make people feel like they know you before you have even met.

Your brand is more than the visual.

It is what you communicate and how. The more well-rounded your brand is, the more it attracts exactly the right people. I hope these steps get you a little closer to the brand that already exists inside you.
